Profil Christine Laciak

Christine advises clients with respect to global foreign investment review regulations, including in particular with respect to US national security reviews conducted by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS).

Christine has over a decade of experience guiding companies through the CFIUS process, from the due diligence and contract negotiation phase, to the strategic risk assessment and notification and review phases.

She is a recognized expert on global foreign investment review regimes and serves as a leader of the firm’s global foreign investment review team. She combines her global perspective on foreign investment review regimes with her substantial experience advising clients in connection with CFIUS reviews to ensure a coordinated global approach.

With her additional merger control expertise, Christine regularly advises on the intersection of foreign investment and merger control regimes in cross-border transactions.

Christine has worked in Brussels, Beijing, Dubai (in-house secondment), and Washington on cross-border transactions and litigation.  

Mandate

Christine’s experience includes advising:

  • Coupa on its $8 billion sale to Thoma Bravo;
  • Honeywell on the combination of Honeywell Quantum Solutions (HQS) and Cambridge Quantum Computing (CQC);
  • London Stock Exchange Group on the multi-jurisdictional foreign investment review of its proposed $27bn acquisition of Refinitiv, a global provider of financial markets data and infrastructures;
  • Infineon Technologies in connection with the CFIUS review of its $10bn acquisition of US-headquartered Cypress Semiconductor;
  • A US music licensing company in connection with a proposed minority investment by a Chinese entertainment company;
  • Zhongwang USA, a subsidiary of Zhongwang International Group, on its proposed $2.33bn acquisition of Aleris Corporation, a US-based global aluminium rolled products producer; and
  • Smiths Group plc on the CFIUS and foreign investment review of its $710m acquisition of Morpho Detection LLC, a California-based threat detection solutions provider and subsidiary of Safran Group.
