Profil Greg Garfield

Greg is a senior associate in our capital markets group.

He primarily advises on debt capital markets transactions, acting both for Issuers and Arrangers, including sovereigns, banks and corporates. Greg works with Issuers from across the credit spectrum, from debut issuers in emerging markets to investment grade corporates, and has worked on both Regulation S and 144A Deals.  He also advises on corporate treasury loans, structured financings and other debt products. He is involved in providing pro bono support on a number of social impact bonds.

During his time at Freshfields, Greg has spent time seconded to the firm’s Amsterdam and Vienna offices, focusing on debt capital markets and securitisation transactions.

Greg was nominated by Chambers as an “Associate to Watch” in the 2024 Capital Markets: Debt (UK) category.

Mandate

Greg’s experience includes advising:

  • HELLENiQ Energy on its €450m Notes due 2029 issued in July 2024, as well as the tender offer in relation to the existing 2019 issuance;
  • The London Stock Exchange on a range of Reg S/144A bond issuances with aggregate value of well over $5bn;
  • esure on its Irish listed issuances of Tier 1 and
    Tier 2 Notes;
  • SES on its $3bn bridge facility and Term Loan A, as well as EMTN Updates and CP establishments;
  • Burford capital on its London listed retail bonds and subsequent tender offers, as well as US listed bonds;
  • the joint lead managers on a variety of sovereign and supranational issuers, including Regulation S transactions for the Republic of Lithuania and 144A transactions for The OPEC Fund for International Development;
  • the Co-Operative Bank on its standalone MREL eligible issuance and related tender offer;
  • the Joint Lead Managers on Landsbankinn’s EMTN Programme and related issuances thereunder including tender offers;
  • issuers and underwriters in relation to liability management and consent solicitation exercises, including for Daily Mail, Georgia Capital, Arion Bank and Bruntwood;
  • the Joint Lead Managers in relation to Georgia Capital and Georgia Global Utilities’ Reg S/144A bond issuances; and
  • the Joint Lead Managers on Arion Bank’s EMTN Programme and related issuances thereunder including tender offers.
