Experience

Konstantin Mettenheimer has been the firm's joint senior partner world wide since May 2004 and works in our Frankfurt and London offices. He became a partner in 1990. From May 2000 until May 2004 he was the regional managing partner for Germany, Austria and Central and Eastern Europe.

Specialising in corporate and tax law, Konstantin advised numerous international companies on mergers and acquisitions, reorganisations and financing issues before assuming his management responsibilities. Examples of his work include advising foreign banks during the restructuring of Coop, and advising on General Re’s acquisition of Cologne Re and Barilla’s takeover of Wasa.

Konstantin was born in Frankfurt (Germany) in 1955. He completed his legal education at universities in Germany and Switzerland. Konstantin holds a doctor of laws degree (Dr iur), is a certified tax adviser and obtained a master of business administration from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1983. He has served in the German Army and the U.S. National Guard. Konstantin is a member of the Union Internationale des Avocats and the International Fiscal Association and is admitted to the Bar in Frankfurt am Main. He has published numerous articles on German tax issues and contributes to the tax section of a loose-leaf service on mergers and acquisitions and to a loose-leaf service on German double taxation treaties. He is member of the Board of Trustees of Bucerius Law School and of the Youth For Understanding Foundation.

Konstantin joined the firm in 1986. He speaks German, English and French.

Konstantin is married with three children. He and his family enjoy the opera and are avid horseriders.
